    end of summer

Well, here it is October - where did the summer go?  I just completed a jewellery show and would like to thank all who attended.  It was a fun afternoon and I know some of you have started your Christmas shopping!  How time flies.  The next show on the horizon is the Aurora Borealis Fall Sale.  It is on Saturday, November 28, 2009 and will be held at the St. Andrew's Centre (12810 - 111 Avenue) from 10 am to 4 pm.  We should have 15 to 20 vendors present so there should be lots to see.  I know the show is sometimes overwhelming for first-time visitors.  It is truly amazing to see everyone's creations.

The Aurora Borealis Fireflies will be participating in the 104 Street Market in downtown Edmonton every Saturday between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm from May 16 to October 10, 2009.  I will be present at the market on the following days:  June 20, July 11, August 8, August 22 and September 12.  For further information regarding the market visit their website at http://citymarket.ca.  Hope to see you there!  For anyone that was at the Gold Bar Market and wants to see my "fishbowl" go the the fused photo album - there's one picture there.

    connected again!

My husband was good enough to buy me a new laptop - which is wonderful!  We always seem to forget how long it takes to get everything moved over.  Almost there now.

The fall sale is approaching very quickly!  I've got some new, exciting items completed and will hopefully get a few more done before the sale.  No pictures added - I want you to come to the sale and see what I've created.

    time flies!

Where does the time go?  January to June is half a year - and it's gone!  Wow!  I've just completed two wonderful bead-making classes - first Michael Barley - awesome!; and second, Lisa St. Martin- stunning!  I hope to update soon with pictures of the beads from both classes.  They were both very enjoyable classes and a lot of information is bouncing around in my head - hopefully I can apply some of this to my future beads!

Class beads (and a few new things)

I finally took the time to scan in the images of the beads I made in the Jennifer Geldard class.  Three photos only (Class-JG-1; Class-JG-2; Class-JG-enamels).  The enamels and window bead were dones on the first day of class - the others were done on the second day.  In Class-JG-2 - the "window bead" is the amber bead; the "tie-dye quilt" is the circular bead and the "ornate" is the beautiful long and slender bead.  In Class-JG-1 are two beads made on the second day using enamels and the new took Jennifer introduced us to.  And, lastly, the one I couldn't resist - a bracelet made by Jennifer Geldard (Class-JG-bracelet).Wow, what a class!

    Thank-you

The fall sale is now a thing of the past.  Thank-you to all who came - we had a great turnout and I think the day was a success for everyone.  The week-end before the sale I took a bead-making course with Jennifer Geldard - although it was expensive it was a truly wonderful course.  I certainly learned a lot, had a good time and came home with a few beads I am proud of.  What an awesome and inspiring bead maker Jennifer is!  I will have to take pictures of a few of the beads and add them to the site.
I managed to get out to the torch tonight and and play a little - I definitely need lots more practice.  Wish me well!

    Summertime

Well, the summer is half over.  I've played a little ball, a little golf and made a few new beads and bracelets/anklets.  A few are copper - they're supposed to help those with arthritis - have a look and let me know what you think.

    Where did March go???

I've spent lots of time beading  recently- I'm getting ready for our show in April.  I am part of the Aurora Borealis Fireflies - a group of lampworkers here in Alberta.  We are having a Studio Sale on April 14, 2007 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm at Bellevue Community League, 7308 - 112 Avenue.  Anyone interested - the show is open to the public and we would be happy to see you there!

I've made lots of new and interesting beads - I hope to get some pictures added to the blog soon.  I also need to get business cards printed and all the jewellery made for the show - time's running out!!!
    February 01

    February already!?

It's a beautiful sunny morning here in Alberta, just a tad chilly at about -16.  A little fresh snow yesterday has everything looking blindingly white.  I hope to do some more stained glass before I go into work and do some fused glass.  If I get enough finished I can make beads tomorrow.  I'm only slightly addicted to glass!  Have a good day.

    glass work

Need more time!!!  Don't we all.  I've been trying to get enough torch time in.  There's always new glass to try, different combinations, new techniques.  Lots to learn and lots of fun to play with.  Attached is a photo of a recent piece.  I do stained glass, fused glass, and glass beads.

    Fusing glass

Today I will clean the kiln shelf so I can fire more glass.  A necessary evil in fusing.  If I get enough fused glass finished maybe I can make more lampwork beads!
